The pink unicorn plush is a toy that lay “on top of a couple of gold coins” in the hollow under the knight statue in the ridge temple [9]. Caelumn picked it up while the knight of smoke was not attacking him, and found that its back opens onto “a ginormous, endless void” [17][10][11]. It is unidentified: the DM gave it no name and no properties, and the title is the wiki’s own.

Overview

The plush came out of the knight chamber of the ridge temple. The party had tried a series of offerings and tests on the knight statue and, after the DM twice drew their eyes to the seam in the floor, Terry pushed it over [5][6][7]. A knight made of smoke came out [8]. Kole, still looking for the third black orb, asked to see the hole beneath it. There was no orb, only the plush and some gold [1]. Caelumn took both and left.

Description

The DM’s words: “You see what looks to be a pink unicorn resting on top of a couple of gold coins.” [9]. Held, it proved “kind of like a plushie that has this small opening across its back” [10]. The DM described the inside as “a ginormous, endless void” [11]. Nothing is said of its size, its material or how it feels to carry.

Mechanics (as played)

Not read out in play, apart from two things. Opening the back cost no action: asked “Will it cost me an action to open it?”, Caelumn was told “Free item interaction.” [12][13]. And the DM described a void inside it [11]. No weight, capacity or limit was given, nothing was put in or taken out on screen, and the DM did not call it magical or give it a name. Kole’s “unicorn of holding” and “a plushy backpack” [14][15] are the table’s jokes and guesses, and Caelumn’s “it is” [16] is his own reply.

Open questions

  • What it is, and what it can hold. The DM answered only with the void.
  • Why the knight let Caelumn go in. Asked whether the knight was aggressive to him, he was told “not at the current moment no” [17], and the knight did not stop him [18]. It had turned its gaze from him to his allies after he spoke to it about Vecna [19][20].
  • How many gold coins there were. The DM said “a couple” [9], and they went uncounted.

History in the campaign

Session 24: The Knight of Smoke

Main article: Session 24

Kole asked to see the hole under the toppled knight statue and found no orb, only a pink unicorn on a couple of gold coins [1]. Caelumn, whom the knight of smoke was not attacking at that moment, went in, grabbed everything and opened the unicorn, a plushie with a small opening across its back that held “a ginormous, endless void” [2]. The DM summed it up: “Caelumn went in, grabbed the stuff, and peaced the fuck out” [4].

Status

As of session 24. Caelumn has the plush and the coins [4]. It is unidentified, unnamed and unused beyond opening it. The knight of smoke was still fighting the rest of the party when the session paused [21].
