The Bloodwell Vial is the Tasha’s Cauldron of Everything sorcerer-attuned wondrous item that, while attuned, lets the sorcerer regain a sorcery point on cast and offers other sorcerer-specific features (focus for sorcerer spells, +1 spell attack and save DC at higher rarity tiers). Caelumn received it at the s10/s11 level-up bestowal. He has used it in two confirmed instances: the s9-retrospective draconic-ancestor reroll on a Wisdom save vs the Succubus’s Dominate Person, and the s15 short rest where he restored sorcery points fully. CONFLICT RESOLVED (s19): the s16 callback list [4] had lumped “Caelumn’s potions” into his lost s15 backpack without explicitly naming the vial, which left the vial’s custody ambiguous; session 19 settles it in favour of KEPT — the DM references Caelumn’s “Bloodwell Wild” (the vial) as he ricochets a Chromatic Orb mid-fight [5], confirming it carried and attuned and in active play. The vial was on Caelumn’s person, not in the lost backpack.
Overview
Standard Tasha’s Cauldron of Everything Bloodwell Vial, sorcerer-only attunement: while attuned and held, it serves as a spellcasting focus for sorcerer spells, regenerates a sorcery point on cast under specified conditions, and at higher rarity tiers (uncommon/rare/very rare/legendary) increases spell attack bonus and save DC. The campaign instance has been treated as the rare tier across transcript references.
Confirmed use
- s9 retroactive — Dominate Person save: Caelumn used the vial’s draconic-ancestor reroll mechanic to succeed his Wisdom save against the Succubus’s Dominate Person (saving him from sharing Hugo and Terry’s charmed status that fight).
- s15 short rest: spent the day’s recharge to fully restore sorcery points before the kobold-rescue clearing.
- s19 fey ambush: in active play on Caelumn throughout the Pixie/will-o’-wisp fight, supporting his Chromatic Orb economy; the DM names it by its transcript artefact “Bloodwell Wild” as Caelumn ricochets an orb to an adjacent target [5].
Conflict flag — RESOLVED in session 19 (KEPT)
The Bloodwell Vial’s location at end of s16 was the campaign’s most active inventory ambiguity. Session 19 resolves it in favour of KEPT.
The history of the ambiguity:
- The campaign bible’s party-at-end-of-s16 ledger listed the vial as still on Caelumn.
- The [4] callback list of items lost in the s15 backpack lumped “Caelumn’s potions” together without naming the vial; the bible’s reading was that the vial was on Caelumn’s belt (kept) rather than in the backpack (lost).
- The Magic Items Index noted the conflict explicitly and recommended Chris confirm.
The s19 fey ambush settles it. As Caelumn ricocheted a Chromatic Orb mid-fight, the DM identified the source of the bounce as the vial:
“Oh, it’s because you’ve got Bloodwell Wild. Got it. Okay.” — Nick (DM), [5]
“Bloodwell Wild” is the transcript artefact for the Bloodwell Vial. Its appearance in live combat confirms the vial was carried and attuned by Caelumn in s19, never in the lost s15 backpack. The conflict is therefore closed: the vial is KEPT, on Caelumn, attuned.
