Silent Intake is the Velkris organisation that handles counterfeit documents, named once by The Broker in s7 as the buyer he recommended for the Duskwatch shipping ledger the party recovered from Maelis Dirn’s research desk. He placed it near the entrance to Velkris: “Look for the Talking Skulls” [2]. He suggested handing over the ledger could earn the party not only a reward but a fixer-style retainer: “perhaps they’d even see some sort of value in you” [1]. Redeeming the ledger there became the party’s heading in s19 [3], but the party has not reached Velkris. Silent Intake is concept-only; nothing said in play clarifies whether it is a building, a guild, or a single broker.

Overview

Silent Intake is, per The Broker’s s7 referral, the Velkris-side market for counterfeit documents and the appropriate destination for the Duskwatch shipping ledger the party recovered from Maelis Dirn’s research desk. The Broker first described the operation in trade terms: if the party handed the ledger to the organisation “that stands for counterfeit documents” in Velkris, “they would probably give you some sort of reward perhaps they’d even see some sort of value in you” and hire them as personal fixers [1]. On a follow-up question, he gave the name and the geographic hint: the organisation is “Silent Intake”, found near the entrance to Velkris: “Look for the Talking Skulls” [2].

Status as of session 22: the active travel objective, not yet reached

In s19 the Silent Intake hand-off became the party’s active travel objective. With the Aurelia/Egg raid deferred [5][6], Hugo set the new heading: “we’ll be going to Velkris probably to redeem the shipping order stuff” [3], “the shipping order” being the forged Duskwatch shipping ledger he has carried since s6. The party turned back inland towards the Eldwythe bridge [7], aiming for Velkris by land (Eldwythe → Umbrafall → Mirestrand), by skiff, or via the Khaldun → Sablemar desert detour [8][9][10]. The ledger has not yet been delivered; Silent Intake remains concept-only and unseen. In s20 Caelumn’s recap restated the route through Umbrafall and Mirestrand to Velkris, and the DM and Caelumn recalled “a fake ledger” [11][12][13]; since then the party has been held up at Greysmere by the search for Pell, and neither the ledger nor Velkris came up in s21 or s22.

Earlier status (through s16): active and unpursued. The Broker, in s10, restated Velkris as “the city of money” and the obvious destination for selling Aurelian-conspiracy intelligence [14], reinforcing the open thread.

Open questions

  • Is Silent Intake a single fixer, a guild, or a market quarter? Transcript is silent.
  • The “Talking Skulls” landmark at the city’s entrance is unexplained, possibly a literal feature of Velkris (which the world brief paints as a necropolitan city of money and ghosts).
  • The Broker’s “personal fixers” framing implies Silent Intake recruits as well as buys; whether this is on offer to the party specifically or a generic come-on is unclear.
