The Wane Quarter is the Umbrafall district that holds the Glomangol Inn, down a narrow alley close enough to the Black Hollow Market to serve its poison brokers but far enough away that the Nightwatch rarely patrols the street. The fog is thinner here than in most of the city [4]. The DM named the district once; the party’s stays there were at the inn, in sessions 7, 8 and 10.

Overview

The Wane Quarter is the Umbrafall district that holds the Glomangol Inn, down a narrow alley close enough to the Black Hollow Market to serve its smugglers and poison brokers but far enough away that the Nightwatch rarely patrols the street [4]. The DM named it once, in session 7, and the party’s recorded stays there have all been at the inn. Nothing else of the district has been shown.

Geography and appearance

The fog here is thinner than in most parts of the city, “one of the major reasons the tavern exists at all” [4]. The only building described is the Glomangol, tucked down the alley behind a leaning timber facade reinforced with iron ribs salvaged from old sunstone machinery [4].

Government / control

The Nightwatch rarely patrols the inn’s street [4]. The inn keeps its own order: its rule board reads “no Nightwatch business inside, no killing over coin, everything else negotiable” [4].

Notable features

History in the campaign

Session 7: Maelis Falls, Vasquez Captured

Main article: Session 7

After the Titan fight, Caelumn asked the Broker for a safe place to rest, and the Broker listed several taverns, among them the Glomangol [5]. Hugo took the party to the Glomangol as one of the slightly safer inns [6]. The DM placed it in the Wane Quarter, in thinner fog, away from the Nightwatch’s usual rounds [4]. The bartender asked 15 gold for two rooms and settled on seven after a Persuasion roll of 16 [7][8].

Session 8: Bruise the Cellmate, the Succubus, and the Quarry Ghosts

Main article: Session 8

While Vasquez sat in the Nightwatch jail, the rest of the party stood with Risa in an alley away from the main trade district [9]. Before they left to plan his release, she told them she would wait at the inn they had left not long before, from three to five every day for the next two weeks, and would try to find them a reward [10].

Session 10: Ruin Joins, the Aurelian Conspiracy, the Plate Armour

Main article: Session 10

Back at the inn after the Dawn Mercy Clinic, the party found Risa “drinking to forget”, with two empty bottles and a third in her hand [11]. Hugo told her that her sister was alive but had been taken to Aurelia, and that they would try to find her once their business in another city was done [12].

Status

As of session 23. Last visited in session 10. The inn where the party woke in session 11 is not named and may be the Glomangol [13]. The district has not been seen since.
