The Glomangol Inn is the safer-than-most tavern in the lower-fog district of Umbrafall that Wane Quarter. Bioluminescent-mushroom and two-headed-serpent sign over the door, rule-board reading “no Venenberg inside, no Nightwatch business inside, no killing over coin, everything else negotiable” [4], and a 40s elf bartender with one eye replaced by a fungal orb. Rooms are 5gp/night with a Persuasion 16 (negotiated down from 15gp). The party long-rested here repeatedly across sessions 7-11; Risa waited daily here for news of her sister.
Overview
The Glomangol Inn is the Umbrafall tavern most heavily used by the party. It sits in the lower-fog district that Wane Quarter — far enough from the Black Hollow Market that the Nightwatch does not routinely patrol, and runs by an explicit rule-board the bartender enforces. The party long-rested here on multiple occasions and used it as a contact-point for Risa.
Geography and appearance
Sign painted with a bioluminescent mushroom and a two-headed serpent. Inside: low-ceilinged common room, a long bar, a kitchen producing porridge thick enough that “the spoon stood upright” (s11) and venison stew on the house when the bartender approves. Two-up paired guest rooms; original price 15gp/room, negotiated to 5gp by Hugo (Persuasion 16). House rules per the rule-board, [4]:
No Venenberg inside, no Nightwatch business inside, no killing over coin, everything else negotiable.
Government / control
The Glomangol bartender — a 40s elf with dark hair shaved at the sides and one eye replaced with a fungal orb — runs the place. He had “fallen out again” with Maelis Dirn before her death; on hearing she was dead he gave the party free venison stew. As of session 11, the autonomous-glass-polishing innkeeper is the morning shift.
History in the campaign
- Session 7: First stay. Free venison stew on Maelis’s death confirmed. Hugo’s dream of The Wraith: “Subject. Status report” [2].
- Session 8: Risa relocates here to wait for the party 3-5 PM daily for two weeks.
- Session 10: The party returns from the Dawn Mercy Clinic interrogation. Risa, drinking heavily, hears that her sister Mira Hale is alive but has been shipped to Aurelia by Aurelian agents [3].
- Session 11: Breakfast in the kitchen. The innkeeper recommends Starpoint Secrets for potions.
Inhabitants
- The Glomangol bartender (unnamed, 40s elf, fungal eye-orb)
- The morning innkeeper (unnamed, “skinny, greasy, autonomously polishes glasses”)
- Risa — recurring guest; waiting for news (s8 onwards)
Status as of session 16
Active. The party has not been back since session 11. Risa is presumably still drinking.
