The Gloaming Warrens are, per the DM’s world brief, the deep fungal workings beneath Umbrafall that help keep the city alive — the subterranean economy that turns Umbrafall’s perpetual-night curse into harvestable bioluminescent fungi, mosses, reagents, and toxins for the city to trade with. The party have not toured the Gloaming Warrens as such, but the dungeon they cleared in sessions 4-7 — The Warrens beneath the Black Hollow Market, Maelis Dirn’s lair — is one section of this broader system. The fuller Gloaming Warrens remain unexplored.

Overview

The Gloaming Warrens are the deep fungal workings beneath Umbrafall that help keep the city alive. They are the subterranean half of Umbrafall’s curse-economy: where the surface streets harvest the bio-gloom that has overrun the post-Eclipse city, the Gloaming Warrens are the deeper system where that production is rooted — extensive natural and worked cavities veined with bioluminescent mosses, fungi, and poison-flora, dug, tended, and worked over generations of need.

The party have cleared one section of this broader system in sessions 4-7: The Warrens beneath the Black Hollow Market, Maelis Dirn’s lair and the seat of her soul-binding Titan operation. That section is now empty of organised hostility. The wider Gloaming Warrens that the world brief describes — the workings that actually feed the city — have not been entered by the party.

Relationship to The Warrens

The Warrens (the cleared dungeon under the Black Hollow Market) are one section of the wider Gloaming Warrens system. The corpus convention is to use “the Warrens” for the cleared dungeon and “the Gloaming Warrens” for the broader fungal-workings network the world brief refers to. The cleared section’s own article preserves all session-specific detail about Maelis Dirn, the Titan, the Hollow Guardians, the Maze of the Minotaur, and the surviving threats (the mind-control bookshelf, the deeper Hollow authority). This article covers only the broader, still-unexplored system.

Status as of session 16
