Crownspire is the palace-cathedral-fortress at the radiant heart of Aurelia, enclosed within its own inner walls like a sacred city within the city. It is the seat of the ruling power and the home of Seraphine, the sacred sovereign and living vessel of the Pure Light’s goddess, and from it the city’s law, faith and authority radiate outward. It is world-brief canon and has not yet appeared in play.
Overview
Crownspire is the seat of Aurelia’s government and faith: a palace, a cathedral and a fortress in one structure, enclosed within its own inner walls at the radiant centre of the city’s concentric rings (world-brief canon). It is the home of Seraphine, the sacred sovereign of Aurelia and living vessel of the Pure Light’s goddess. From Crownspire the city’s law, faith and authority radiate outward. Nothing in it has been seen or described in play.
Geography and appearance
The spire rises at the heart of the city, ringed by the noble estates, high courts, elite compounds and grand institutions of church and state that fill Aurelia’s inner rings. Its own inner walls set it apart even from the central rings: the world brief calls it “a sacred city within the city”. Sun-banners hang from its shining towers, and pale stone and gold dominate, in keeping with the rest of Aurelia (world-brief canon).
Government / control
Seraphine governs from Crownspire. Beneath its sun-banners and shining towers the will of Aurelia is given form in ritual, judgment and steel (world-brief canon). In play she has been named only once, by Gristleback, who called her “the leader of Aurelia” [2].
History in the campaign
Not yet seen in play.
Status
As of session 23. Unvisited. The party came no nearer than Aurelia’s coast and farmland in sessions 18 and 19 [3], abandoned its quest in Aurelia “for now” [4], and has been north of Aurelian territory since session 20 [5].
