Selenor is a man of Wyrmbough Grove who stood behind Gwen Homora when the party came back without Cholmondeley in session 3, and who played a carved war-horn of the Grove Wars at the funeral fire that night [3]. He has no spoken lines in any recorded session. Nothing in play gives him an office; he is shown only at the funeral.

Overview

Selenor is a man of Wyrmbough Grove whose recorded part is brief but sombre: he watched the returning party’s faces and counted them, and he played a carved horn once used in the Grove Wars at Cholmondeley’s funeral [3]. He never speaks. Nothing in the recorded sessions gives him an office or a race.

Appearance and demeanour

Not described. He is silent and solemn: “he does not speak, he just plays” [3].

Relationships

  • Gwen Homora: stood behind her when the party returned, and was at the funeral fire with her [3].
  • Cholmondeley: the dead man the horn was played for [3].
  • Nancy: Caelumn named him as someone in the village who could look after the girl, if the party left her behind [2].

Notable quotes

“Selenor raises a carved horn once used in the Grove Wars and he does not speak, he just plays.” — Nick (DM), [3]

History in the campaign

Session 3: The Lair of Sunset is Nigh and the Death of Cholmondeley

Main article: Session 3

When the party came back from the dragon’s lair with Cholmondeley’s body, Gwen Homora stepped forward and Selenor stood behind her, “searching counting” their faces; when they saw who was missing, no one spoke [3]. Later that night a fire was lit on the village green for remembrance, and Selenor raised the carved horn and played “a low aching note” across the grove [3]. As the table argued over what to do with Nancy, who had asked to stay with the party, Caelumn promised that someone in the village would look after her and named Selenor [2].

Status

As of session 3. Alive, presumably still in Wyrmbough Grove; off-screen since the funeral. Nancy was left in the village in session 4 [4].
