The Glomangol bartender is the unnamed elf who runs the Glomangol Inn, a tavern tucked down an alley in Umbrafall’s Wane Quarter. In his late forties, with dark hair shaved at the sides and one eye replaced by a softly glowing fungal orb [3], he asked the party 15 gold for two rooms and settled on seven after Hugo’s Persuasion of 16 [8][10]. Told that the party had just killed Maelis Dirn, he demanded proof, and when Terry produced the Soulbinder’s Packed Ring he gave them dinner on the house [14].

Overview

The unnamed Glomangol bartender runs the Glomangol Inn in Umbrafall’s Wane Quarter, one of the safer taverns in the city. It is tucked down a narrow alley close enough to the Black Hollow Market to serve smugglers and poison brokers, but far enough away that the Nightwatch rarely patrols the street [1]. He enforces the rule-board on the wall and prices his rooms by what the traveller will bear. He appears once, as the host of the party’s first night’s rest after the death of Maelis Dirn [2].

Appearance and demeanour

An elf in his late forties, with dark hair shaved at the sides and one eye “replaced with a softly glowing fungal orb” [3]. He is brisk and a little theatrical: a courteous “very good, very good” to a booking, a reminder of the house rule, and visible effort when asked to price a plate of venison stew, which the DM played as thinking “very, very hard” before he named seven silver [4][5].

After that he was delighted: dinner on the house and whatever drink they wanted [11].

Hugo took the party to the Glomangol after the Titan fight, and the bartender reminded them of the house rule, “no killing inside the premises. Over coin.” [4]. He asked 15 gold for two rooms [8]; Terry’s History check put a normal room at about five gold, and Hugo, pointing out that the inn was at about 45% capacity, got the price down to seven [13]. Told in a whisper that the party had killed Maelis, he called it a lie, then relented when Terry produced the Soulbinder’s Packed Ring and gave each of them a plate of venison stew, with drinks on the house [14].

Status

As of session 23. Alive, presumably still behind the bar of the Glomangol, and unseen since session 7. When the party took a room there in session 10 they dealt with a barmaid instead [15], and no later session brings him back.
