FactionDawn Mercy Clinic, Aurelian conspiracy (coerced)

Drew is the orderly the party encountered behind the front desk at the Dawn Mercy Clinic in Umbrafall in session 10. Under Caelumn’s open-palmed flame and a streak of three natural twenties on Intimidation in a single roll, he became the first on-screen witness to confess the Aurelian abduction conspiracy: that armed Aurelians with papers had taken Mira Hale to Dock 13 and shipped her to Aurelia four days previously, with the Nightwatch paid off and Drew himself coerced into filing false aquamation records and burning the originals on pain of death [3]. He urinated on himself, finished his confession, and ran out the door. He has not been seen since.

Overview

Drew is the orderly who was on duty behind the front desk at the Dawn Mercy Clinic in Umbrafall when the party arrived in session 10 to investigate Risa’s sister’s suspicious cremation paperwork. The clinic smelled of vinegar and herbs and was suspiciously clean. Hugo’s Perception spotted a half-covered keg labelled L-Y behind the desk — lye, the same substance whose residue Hugo had identified in Risa’s urn back in session 8.

Drew denied knowledge. Caelumn manifested fire in his open hand and rolled Intimidation with three natural twenties in a row under advantage and inspiration. Drew broke [3]:

“They were Aurelians. They came a few days ago. They had papers. They weren’t looking for patients. They already had a name. Mira Hale … they were taking her back to Aurelia.”

He confessed the rest of the route under follow-up questioning: Mira Hale had been taken to Dock 13 and shipped to Aurelia four days previously; the Nightwatch had been paid off; he himself had been threatened with death and forced to file false aquamation paperwork and burn the originals. He urinated on himself, finished talking, and ran out the door.

The DM clarified out-of-character that the clinic itself is a real charity hospital and Drew is a coerced cover, not an active conspirator [2]. The actual abductors are an Aurelian cell with Nightwatch protection.

Status as of session 16

Alive, fled. Not seen again since the s10 confession. He is the campaign’s first on-screen witness to the Aurelian abduction conspiracy and the source of the Mira Hale name and the Dock 13 route.
