Drew is the orderly the party met behind the front desk of the Dawn Mercy Clinic in Umbrafall in session 10. Under Caelumn’s flames and three natural 20s in a row on Intimidation, he confessed that Aurelians with papers had taken Mira Hale, Risa’s sister, because she had shown magical capabilities: they made him burn the records, and she went out in a barrel through Dock 13 four days before [25]. He wet himself and ran out of the door, and has not been seen since.

Overview

Drew is the orderly who was on duty at the front desk of the Dawn Mercy Clinic in Umbrafall when the party came to look into the fate of Risa’s sister [3][4]. He is the campaign’s first on-screen witness to the Aurelian abduction of people with magic, and the source of the name Mira Hale and of the Dock 13 route [5]. The clinic looks like a coerced cover rather than a willing conspirator: Drew says “They forced me” [6].

Appearance and demeanour

Polite and sweating. He greets the party with the clinic’s name and his own, says they sell no healing potions, and offers to tend bruises and cuts [4][7]. A group Perception check shows sweat dripping from his brow [8]; he says he is “not nervous” until Caelumn brings fire to his fingers, when he bursts out with “I’ll talk” [9][10].

The clinic smelled of vinegar and herbs, its floors freshly scrubbed, and Hugo’s Perception found a half-covered keg marked L-Y behind the desk, the lye of Risa’s urn [18][19]. Drew could not place a woman matching Mira’s description, but sweated as the party pressed [20]. Caelumn leaned over the counter with flame curling round his fingers and rolled Intimidation, three natural 20s in a row by the DM’s count [21]. Drew broke: Aurelians with papers had come for Mira, who had shown magical capabilities; they made him burn the records, and the Nightwatch, paid off, found out when he tried to warn her sister [22]. She had gone out in a barrel through Dock 13 four days before [23]. He wet himself and ran out past the party [17][24].

Status

As of session 23. Alive; he fled the clinic in session 10 and has not been seen since.
