Bison Bronzgut is Vasquez’s adopted dwarf father, named for the first time during the s9 succubus failure-vision in the Black Vein Quarry. The succubus made each party member relive their greatest failure; Vasquez’s was a knife he had once tried to forge to impress Bison, the mould shattering in his hands [1]. The adopted-dwarf-family crest that Vasquez re-engraved over the Aurelian sunburst on his looted Aurelian Plate Armour with Nullstone Runes [2] is Bison Bronzgut’s forge/family mark (per DM ruling, post-s17 - canonical). Bison has not yet appeared on-screen.
Overview
Bison Bronzgut is Vasquez’s adopted dwarf father, named once during the s9 succubus failure-visions in the Black Vein Quarry. After the party was dragged through a one-way illusion wall, the succubus forced each character into a personal greatest-failure scene. Vasquez relived a knife he had tried to forge as a young apprentice to impress Bison; the mould shattered in his hands [1].
The adopted-dwarf-family crest that Vasquez re-engraved over the Aurelian sunburst on his looted Aurelian Plate Armour with Nullstone Runes in s10 (re-engraved during a long rest, no Arcana check required for crest-only modification, [2] is Bison Bronzgut’s forge/family mark (per DM ruling, post-s17 - canonical). Vasquez’s biological elf parentage is otherwise undescribed.
Status as of session 16
Off-screen. Status unknown. The party has not yet visited any dwarven locale where Bison might be encountered, and Vasquez has not raised him in conversation since the s9 vision. Khaldun Forgehold is the world’s named dwarven city; whether Vasquez’s adoptive family lives there is not established in transcript.
