Vasquez: Inventory

Inventory for Vasquez (Polar’s character throughout), a fighter who became a half-demon elf in session 9, level 4 at end of session 16. His defining gear is the gunblade he forged in session 3 from the hoard’s pistol and his own longsword, and the Aurelian Plate Armour with Nullstone Runes he took from the paladin in session 10 [2][5][6]. He carried the party’s largest red vial for eleven sessions before it proved to be a greater healing potion, and poured it into Althea [4][7][64]. He left play in the retcon at the start of session 17, captured with Althea by the Aurelians; his gear went with him, and the Hat of Disguise was destroyed [9][17]. He is a departed PC, not an active rescue thread (ruling 25).

Equipment (mundane)

  • Vasquez’s gunblade: he took the pistol from Death-at-Sunset’s hoard instead of the sword [10], and at Shamil’s forge combined it with his longsword by his own schematics [11][2][12]. A bonus action slams the hammer to prime a charge, which detonates for “an extra 2d6 of fire damage” [13][3]; he also loads shock charges [14], and the charges come back on a short rest [15][16]. Fate: went with him [17].
  • Scimitar: his backup weapon [18]. Fate: traded with 15 gold at Sunny’s stall for an alchemist’s fire [19][20][1].
  • Shovels: the bandit camp’s shovel, “I love a shovel” [21]; in session 8 Harvo made him a spade from a metal plate, and he dug the camp a fire trench [22][23][24].
  • Alchemist’s supplies: he extracted “a single vial of poison” from the dead phase spider and put it in Hugo’s hand [25][26][27].
  • Mask: after his face was seen, he tied it “very tight” “to make sure that it doesn’t happen again”; potions can be poured through it [28][29]. In jail, when the DM, voicing the cellmate Jack, first heard “Cruz” as “Bruce”, Terry made it his prison name: “You’re Bruise.” [30][31][32].
  • Charm from Harvo’s weapon: at Harvo’s death he took “a small piece of metal from” “one of his sides of his weapon” to wear as a charm [33][34]. Fate: went with him.
  • The Aurelian paladin’s greatsword: its blows burned Mharos with radiant damage [35]. The Broker would not take it, though he recognised the armour as enchanted [36][37][38]; Vasquez kept it because he “might be able to fashion a better gunblade” [39][40]. Not confirmed magical. Fate: went with him.
  • Gunblade schematics: given to Althea Stormsoro “as a good gesture of faith”; in return her glowing gem gave him “a surge of holy power” and mended his armour [41][42].

Magic items

  • Aurelian Plate Armour with Nullstone Runes: from the dead Aurelian paladin, “I think I might need it More than a dead person” [5]. Ruin’s Identify met its resistance, “Oh, fuck your armor.” [43][44]; it gives “advantage against saving throws against arcane spells” [6]. Over the long rest he re-made the crest as his adopted family’s, an eight-hour job “With a chance of ruining the armor” [45][46][47]. In session 12 it turned to taffy with him [48]. Fate: went with him [17].
  • Hat of Disguise: from Phil Flowerforge’s crate in the sewers; Caelumn slammed it on his head untested [49][50], and Althea’s ritual identified it [51]. After an hour’s attunement he turned “from a devil-kin-looking individual to a dwarf” [52][8][53]. Fate: destroyed in the retcon: “the hat uh friggin exploded it’s gone” [9][54].

Consumables and components

  • Alchemist’s fire: bought from Sunny for his scimitar and 15 gold after a Persuasion of 17 [55][1]. Fate: not recorded as used.
  • Potion of poison resistance: from Gwen Homora [56], drunk behind a tree on the way to the lair [57].
  • The large red vial: the biggest of the five from the Warrens satchel went to him [58][4], and he still had it in session 14, “I got that red liquid on me” [59]. In session 13 the DM told him what it was, after he had drunk a regular potion [60][7][61]. Fate: poured into Althea, “That’s a greater healing potion.”, for 17 [62][63][64].
  • Healing potions: he poured one from Caelumn’s back pocket into him [65] and drank one himself [66]. In session 13 Hugo fed him a party potion for nine, and he drank one of his own [67][68][61].
  • Alston’s experimental potion: drunk for a discount on the party’s potions; it made him shed glowing green bubbles [69][70].
  • Coin: his share of the bandit haul [71][72]. His bail, bargained down to 150 gold, was paid with Caelumn’s gold and the party’s, and on release his armour and weapons were tossed back to him [73][74][75].

Permanent notes

  • Half-demon elf (s9). He became “a half-demon elf”, horns and all, with Mharos inside him, and the scars and the bars that had held his mouth together were gone [76][77][78][79][80]. Mharos refused any change to the deal [81].
  • Taffy (s12 to s14). Pushed into the taffy puller, he became “a soft, slightly elastic, taffy form”, armour and all [82][48], until Uncle Nibblecheek’s snap turned everyone back [83].
  • Mage Slayer. When Mharos forced a Wisdom save at disadvantage, he chose to succeed [84][85][86]. In session 16 he fed Mharos by slamming his own head into the wall [87][88].
  • Departure (s17 retcon). He and Althea split from the party and were captured by the Aurelians; everything above went with him [89][17]. He is a departed PC, not an active rescue thread (ruling 25).
