Inventory for Steven (Ash’s character in sessions 17 to 19), a halfling Fiend warlock with the Pact of the Blade. His signature item is his pact dagger, which smells of expensive tobacco smoke when he summons it, finished the Brinemaw Wyrm on a natural 20, and in session 19 ran warm and whispered to him on watch [5][6][7]. He wore leather armour under his at-will Mage Armor and carried a waterproof backpack with a costume in it [1][2][4]. The DM said he had a magic item still to choose, and he never chose it [3]. The retcon of session 20 left no trace of him or his equipment in the camp [8].

Equipment (mundane)

  • Clothes: “a nice vest, long-sleeved, white shirt” [9]. Fate: gone in the retcon [8].
  • Leather armour: worn under his at-will Mage Armor. Rather than make him take it off, the DM let it stand: “We just add two as a magical bonus to you, that’s fine you can keep the armor on” [10][11][4]. He later called it “a reinforced leather vest” [12][13]. Fate: gone in the retcon [8].
  • Backpack: it came through the wreck “more or less intact”, a pack he had “picked up sometime later” [1][14]; on his s19 watch some of his wares were “a little bit waterlogged” [7]. It held a costume for passing as someone else, offered to the party and not taken [2][15][16]. Fate: gone in the retcon [8].
  • Coin: he matched Terry’s 10 gold on Hugo’s breath-holding contest and paid up when Hugo won [17][18][19].

Magic items

  • Steven’s pact blade: his Pact of the Blade dagger, summoned as a bonus action with “a distinct smell of like expensive tobacco smoke” [5]. Its first natural 20 drew “purplish blood” from a water wolf [20][21]. In s18 its tip showed “sulfuric flame” as another natural 20 finished the Brinemaw Wyrm [22][6][23], and he cast Chain of Conviction through its smoke [24]. On his s19 watch it felt “more warm than the small fire” and gave off “a small whisper” [7]. Fate: gone in the retcon [8]; the whisper is unexplained.
  • A magic item never chosen: “even Steven seems to have a magic item that he has not yet picked however he’ll be able to pull it out of the ether once he picks one” [3]. He did not pick one on-screen.

Consumables and components

  • Rations: marked off with everyone’s at the beach camp [25]. In s19 he told the goblin Gristleback “those aren’t my rations”, then handed over “just the bare minimum” [26][27][28].
  • No potion, scroll or component of his own is recorded.

Permanent notes

  • Retcon (s20). Session 20 opened with a doubled set of memories in which Barney Amoran had always held his place: “there’s no steven no equipment from steven anywhere”, and his bedroll is “Barney’s bedroll now” [29][8][30]. The DM was clear that he “has never died” [31].

Tracked across sessions

  • s17: comes aboard with his backpack and its costume intact [1][2]; pays Terry 10 gold on Hugo’s breath-hold [18][19]; keeps his leather armour under Mage Armor [4]; first summons his pact dagger [5].
