Dylan

Stub-class article

Dylan is the player whose character is Hugo, the dual-axe-wielding Path of Bloodfury barbarian who has been at the table the entire recorded run (s2-current). He is the recap-volunteer most often — Nick’s die roll picks the recap-doer, but Dylan tends to step in when the roll falls awkwardly — and the table’s most frequent on-the-fly mechanics-explainer.

Characters played

  • Hugo (s2-current) — barbarian, dual hand-axes plus longsword, gauntlets, Topple weapon mastery, Path of Bloodfury subclass (Nick’s homebrew, since rebalanced from the pre-nerf version that produced the s11 “void-explosion” mechanic). Project Veilbreak survivor with the in-fiction given name Corvin revealed by The Black Mask in s4. Signed a devil pact with the Black Mask for the Onyx Ring of Barbed Hooks. Late once (roadworks, s14); otherwise present every session.

At the table

Dylan’s Hugo voice is blunt, strategic, and curse-heavy, with an ex-soldier cadence and a strong line in tactical pragmatism. Recurring tells include “Reckless attack and throw some hand axes” [1] as a default action plan, “I am too angry to make a medicine check on him.” [2], “I’m not the healer.” [3], the recurring “I’m one HP” complaint, and self-deprecating “Hugo the pack mule.” [4]. His combat barks lean into Hugo’s bigotry against undead and infernal opponents.

Out-of-character, Dylan is the table’s most reliable mechanics-explainer (“16 years of playing D&D, I know how to make a moral compass of a character”, s4) and the player most likely to volunteer a recap. His strategic register comes through as much in planning conversations (“Stick to the right-hand method.”, s6) as in combat.
