Kole: Inventory
Inventory for Kole (Jon’s character, who joined in session 23), a changeling warlock from Arcanthys by his player’s own account. He was first seen as a prisoner in “rough-looking iron manacles” [1], and nearly everything known of his kit is his player’s description of him: fine dark green and purple clothes under a travelling cloak, rings, a lute on his back and no weapons [16][18]. The DM allowed him one uncommon magic item, whose name the recording does not make clear and which is not identified [39][33]. In the ridge temple he picked up The cultist’s dagger and put on the dead cultist’s robes over his own clothes, and he still wears the cuffs of his broken manacles [18][48][17]. In session 24 he prised the first of The black orbs out of a statue’s mouth with his lute, which by his account is now broken in half in his bag, and pricked his finger with a dagger for the vampire-lord statue [22][23][49].
Equipment (mundane)
- Fine clothes, travelling cloak and rings: “really fancy dark green and purple clothes covered in like a traveling cloak”, and “a nice like nice sets of rings on his finger” [16]. Nothing says the rings are magical. Fate: worn, with the cultist’s robes now over them [17].
- Lute: “obviously he has a lute on” “his back” [16][18]. He played it for his “encouraging song”, which gave Terry and Caelumn heroic inspiration [5][19][20]. In session 24 he used it to poke the first orb out of a statue’s mouth, and the DM narrated teeth that “chomp down where your lute was a second ago” [21][22]. By his account it is now broken in half in his bag, and Father Thomas has Mending, but it was not mended on screen [23][24][25]; he has a backup instrument [26]. Fate: carried, broken by his account.
- No weapon, armour not stated: “he doesn’t really have any weapons by the looks of it” [18], so his one opportunity attack was a slap [27][28]. His Armor of Agathys “shows from underneath my fine clothes” [29], and in the break his player gave his armour class as 14 [30]; whether he wears armour is not said.
- The manacles: “rough-looking iron manacles” when he was first seen [1]. They came with him through Misty Step and kept him from Eldritch Blast [31][32] until Terry cut the chain [4]. Fate: the cuffs stay on his wrists as “a piece of clothing” [18][33].
- The cultist’s robes: Father Thomas’s idea [34]. He stripped the body, had the robes cleaned with Prestidigitation and wore them over his clothes, hood up [35][17], to pass as a cultist [36]. The robes are the players’ word; the DM’s list of what was on her has “leather armor” [37]. In session 24 he was “still dressed as a cultist” [10], and after the mist took him he concluded that the robes were not what had held it off before [38]. Fate: worn.
Magic items
- An uncommon magic item, not identified: the DM’s allowance for a new character, “i don’t remember what he picked though oh yeah i see you got it” [39]. It is named only once, unclearly [33]; Terry had expected “the glamoured leather armour” [40]. Not used or shown. In session 24, when Caelumn said Hugo had “10 trillion magic items”, Kole put in “Wait, what do you mean? I don’t have any magic items.” [41][15], which stands beside the DM’s record of his choice; it may be banter. A question for his player.
- The first black orb (s24): “Yeah, just black orb.” [42], caught after the teeth snapped shut on his lute [22]. “I’ve just got a fucking giant orb in my bag” [43]; after the break he confirmed “I’ve got one orb on me.” [44]. For the second, he reasoned that the vampire-lord statue wanted blood, and said he would pass the orb it gave up to Terry [45][14]. Fate: in his bag.
- The cultist’s dagger: found on the pendant cultist’s body in Terry’s search [37]. To “Does it look or feel magical at all?” the DM answered “It definitely has runes inscribed on it, but it’s hard to tell.”, and Kole took it “for now” [46][47][48]. Not confirmed magical. In session 24 he asked to “gently prick my finger with my like knife”, saying “Because I’ve got a dagger”, for one piercing damage [49][50][51]; it is probably this blade, the only one on record for him. Fate: carried.
Consumables and components
- None recorded, and no coin is mentioned. In the break Hugo offered him a spare shield [52]; no answer of his is clear, and nothing changed hands. When the DM retired the party inventory in session 24, he said he would not hold any of it, “because I wasn’t here” [53].
Permanent notes
- His player’s account. Most of the kit above is his player’s description of his own character [16][18]; the DM narrated the manacles, the dagger and the search. Whether his captors searched him is not stated; by his own account he allowed the capture [54][55].
Tracked across sessions
- s23: first seen manacled [1]; Misty Steps with the manacles on [31]; freed when Terry cuts the chain, and keeps the cuffs [4][18]; plays his lute for heroic inspiration [20]; takes The cultist’s dagger [48]; wears the cultist’s robes [17]; is offered Hugo’s spare shield, and nothing changes hands [52].
- s24: still in the cultist’s robes [10][38]; gets the first black orb with his lute, and the lute breaks by his account [22][23]; pricks his finger with his dagger [49]; says he will pass the second orb to Terry [14]; says he has no magic items [15]; will not hold any of the party inventory [53].
