Inventory for Hugo (Dylan’s character throughout), a blue-skinned barbarian of the Void-Touched subclass, level 4 at end of session 16. Hugo’s pre-experiment name is “Corvin”. His infernal pact with The Black Mask makes the Onyx Ring of Barbed Hooks a permanent fixture.
Equipment (mundane)
- Multiple hand axes — standard kit, used heavily for thrown attacks since s2 (decapitations a frequent feature).
- Longsword (s10 onwards, looted from the Aurelian Paladin? — actually retained Cholmondeley-era longsword; gunblade body distinct from his) — used s14 + s15.
- Reinforced leather / breastplate — base kit (Hugo is not in plate; Aurelian plate went to Vasquez).
- Dragon-skull crown (s3) — fashioned by Fergus from Sunset is Nigh’s skull. Decorative.
Magic items
- Greataxe of Frost +1 (s7, Broker gift after Maelis kill) — primary weapon since s7. Frost (cold) rider; +1 magical. Hugo declined attunement in s7 (“I am keeping it as a generous gift, but I am not attuning to it” — [1]; attunement status by s16 unclear in transcript. Treated as carried-and-used.
- +1 Greataxe (s13, looted from Candy Cottage tunnel skeleton; identified by Ruin) — backup weapon.
- Gloom-Touched Buckler (s6, identified ~10 min by Harvo; not attuned) — bio-gloom-resin shield; specific effect mechanics unspecified at point of identification.
- Winged Boots (s11, Sevryn’s gift, attuned) — 4 hours/day flight in 1-hour increments per the 2024 nerf. Used [2] (airlift Caelumn from owlbear engagement) and s14 (airlift Caelumn and Vasquez from Gummy Mummy).
- Onyx Ring of Barbed Hooks (s4, Black Mask pact) — forced/permanent attunement; cannot be removed. Demonic-blade self-revive triggered s6 in the phase-spider fight (1d8 necrotic to attacker, restored Hugo from 0 to 4 HP). Channels Black Mask comms — tap to summon (used s12 in tiefling form). The ring giggles.
- Altered sending stone (Project Veilbreak recording) (s4, Black Mask gift) — plays Dr Flem Josenge’s recording on demand; can play future Mask deliveries.
- Sending stone (s7, Broker gift) — pairs with the Broker for future contracts.
Documents, evidence, samples
- Maelis’s research notes + forged Duskwatch shipping ledger (s6, Maelis’s desk) — held by Hugo. Major future plot item — sellable in Velkris to Silent Intake near “the Talking Skulls” entrance per Broker [3] for significant reward.
- Cracked Red Crystal shards (s9, Black Vein Quarry, destroyed) — fragments of the corruption-source crystal; evidence.
- Ilmater holy pendant (s9, deceased priest at the quarry) — gold chain, ivory hand grasping golden ring with ruby heart, smirking and sad faces. Hugo intends to show the Broker.
- Biogloom (~7 vials) + 1 grapefruit-size poison-spore gland (s16, extracted from sewer rats) — improvised-explosive plan (“not a war crime if it’s the first time,” [4].
Consumables
- Healing potion (off Harvo’s body, s9).
- Healing potions from party pool, used regularly.
Pact / metaphysical
- Devil pact with The Black Mask: 7 years post-quest service + 3-year amnesty (if dies in last 3 years, free); Mask owes intel on his erased family, on Bella (another Project Veilbreak survivor), and Dr Flem Josenge. Mask offered upgrade to “champion eternal” s12 if Hugo recruits an ally to the same pact (specifically named Vasquez); Hugo has not committed.
- The Wraith leash — Hugo is mind-controlled by The Ascendancy; the Wraith is his handler. Hugo has passed loyalty Deception checks (s7) but the Wraith reports the leash is weakening.
