Father Thomas: Inventory

Inventory for Father Thomas (Brian’s character from session 19), a human Twilight Cleric of the Aurelian Pure Light. He arrived with white robes, a holy-symbol shield, a quarterstaff and club, and jeweller’s tools for the 50 gp platinum rings he means to make as spell foci [1][26][2]. Since session 21 he has carried The severed hand on a rope, The E.V. ring, a charcoal cloth and a ring of iron keys [4][5][6], and since session 22 The Book of Secrets, which Terry handed him [7][61]. In session 23 his player said he wears mithril heavy armour, the uncommon magic item the DM allowed him, which corrects the earlier reading that he wore none [51][8]. In session 24 he took a healing potion, a light crossbow and the 300-gold diamond out of the party inventory before the DM retired it, fed the potion to Terry, and draped his holy symbol of Aurelia over the knight statue to no effect [11][31][87].

Equipment (mundane)

  • White robes: “a human dressed in dressed in white robes with a white wooden kite shield and no armor that you can see” [1]. Fate: worn, over his armour (see Magic items).
  • White wooden kite shield: it bears his holy symbol, which he holds up to call on his god [1][14]; in session 23 it turned the cultist’s stab, “her blade goes ricocheting off it” [15]. Fate: carried.
  • Quarterstaff: his walking staff and Shillelagh focus [1][16]. A natural 1 sent it flying in session 21 [17], and Hugo pointed out it lay beside him [18]; no pickup is shown, but he renewed Shillelagh that turn [19], and in session 23 “my quarterstaff starts glowing” [20][21]. He smashed the sealed inner door with it, to no effect [22][23][24]. In session 24 Shillelagh strikes with it destroyed both spectres: “this specter just kind of evaporate into a cloud of smoke” and “you make it vanish into smoke” [9][25]. Fate: carried.
  • Club: his backup weapon, used against the fey [26][27]. Fate: carried.
  • Holy symbol and seal: in session 22 he swung “my holy symbol” as a pendulum at the mummy-lord statue [28]; whether that is the shield is not clear. Rime knew “your seal” as an Aurelian’s [29][30]; what the seal is, the DM has not said. In session 24 he said “take off my holy symbol of Aurelia and drape it around its neck” over the knight statue, and “Nothing happens.” [31][32]. Whether that symbol is the shield’s emblem or a separate pendant is not said, and no line shows him taking it back.
  • Jeweller’s tools: for “a platinum ring worth 50 gold pieces”, melted from five platinum pieces, to serve as his spell components [26][2]. None made yet. Fate: carried.
  • Woodcarver’s tools: in session 20 he began carving runes into his staff toward a magical staff; the runes work only once filled with magical ink he does not have, and he hid the work from Barney [3][33][34]. Fate: carried; the staff is unfinished.
  • Augury rune stones: tossed to cast Augury; the DM calls them bones [35][36]. In session 24 he took ten minutes to ritual-cast it, to ask the Everlight whether to go on and try to rescue the boy, and the DM said “it is weal and woe” [37][38][39]. Fate: carried.
  • Rope: threaded through The severed hand as its leash [40][4]; in session 22 readied to tie up the kobold, unused [41][42]. Fate: carried.
  • The severed hand (“Righty”): freed from the Greysmere chopping block and led as a compass north [4][43]. Fate: inert since “The hand has stopped moving.” [44]; not mentioned since session 22 [45].
  • Ring of iron keys: Hugo hooked them off a skeleton and tossed them over [46][6]; they opened two cells [47][48]. Fate: not mentioned since.
  • A light crossbow and the 300-gold diamond (s24): as the DM retired the party inventory, he said “remove from the party inventory a healing potion. a light crossbow and as the cleric the 300 gold diamond” [11]. Nothing more is said of either. Fate: carried, on his own word.
  • The root room’s wooden staff (s24): “I could also use a staff” [49], and in the Dracolich scene he asked to see it [50]. Fate: not his; the holder is not settled.

Magic items

  • Mithril heavy armour: his uncommon magic item, by his player’s account: “You said that I could have an uncommon magical item And I was like I can have heavy armor And not take a loss my movement” [8], which is why he had no disadvantage on Stealth [51]; his armour class is 20 by the same account [52]. It fits the s19 “no armor that you can see”. Fate: worn. When he first wore it is not stated; a question for his player.
  • The E.V. ring and a charcoal cloth: taken off the severed hand’s fingers, “I put those in my pocket” [53][54][5]. His Detect Magic ritual was dropped, as he did not have it prepared [55][56]. Unidentified. Fate: carried.
  • The Book of Secrets: Terry handed it over “because he asked nicely” [7]. Blood on its spine did nothing [57][58]; a whispered secret brought out foreign text, and inside the cover was “burn the letters silence the witnesses keep the knowledge” [59][60], and into his pouch it went [61]. In session 23 it was still unreadable, and he put it away when Hugo read over his shoulder [62][63]. Fate: carried, unidentified.

Consumables and components

  • Goodberries: in session 22 he fed one to Rime, “I hold out a single goodberry” [64][65], and handed two to each companion for reviving the fallen [66]. Their source is not stated. Fate: none eaten on-screen.
  • Holy water: the skulls needed “holy water or dispel evil and good” [67], and he sprinkled “a little holy water on the dead skull”: “The magic disappears.” [68][69]. Whose flask it was is not stated; Hugo has carried Mike’s since session 18 [70].
  • Anti-toxin: Hugo offered him a go against the undead plague, and his 22 cleared it [71][72]; in the session 23 break Hugo’s player called it “that potion of antitoxin I gave you” [73]. Fate: drunk.
  • No healing potion: in session 23 he thought he had one, then “i don’t see it so i guess i i guess i don’t” [74][75][76]. In session 24 he took one from the party inventory [11] and fed it to Terry as a bonus action, for 10 hit points [13]. Fate: used.

Permanent notes

  • Maximum hit points lowered (s23). A spectre’s touch: “You take 8 necrotic damage and your max HP is reduced by 8.” [77]; the DM said a long rest mends it [78][79]. The party took no rest in session 24 [80], so nothing says it has returned.
  • The holy symbol of Vecna. Found on the dead cultist, it went from hand to hand, “It seems to be a holy symbol of Vecna.” [81][82][83], and he later asked whether the sealed door’s markings matched it [84]. Nobody is shown keeping it.

Tracked across sessions

  • s19: joins with robes, shield, quarterstaff, club and jeweller’s tools, and plans his platinum rings [1][26][2]; fights the fey with his club [27].
  • s20: carves runes into his staff, inert without magical ink, and hides the work from Barney [3][33][34]; agrees Laura Bennett’s escort fee with the party [85].
