Cholmondeley — Inventory at Death
Inventory for Cholmondeley at his death in session 3. Chris’s first character — a paladin of the Pure Light on the run from Aurelian forces for rescuing Nancy from execution. Killed in s3 by a yuan-ti woman’s double-bite critical (9 piercing + 21 poison). Last words: “I hate you all.”
Equipment at time of death
- Holy symbol of Bahamut — passed to Nancy at the s3 funeral [1].
- Quarterstaff — for the Shillelagh + Booming Blade combo [2] ruling: Searing Smite stacks; Cholmondeley applies Searing Smite as a bonus action concurrent with Booming Blade).
- Plate or chain armour (Pure Light paladin kit; specific not enumerated). Hugo joke [3]: “you could have kept that Chumley fella’s armour and worn it” — implies the body’s armour was left at Wyrmbough Grove or with the body.
- Aurelian regalia referenced in s2 backstory (he was on the run from them).
- Ring of Swimming (s2 DM gift, d100=90 for the recap) — properties: walking speed becomes a 40 ft swim speed. Lost at his death in transcript — not enumerated as recovered.
Class resources at death
- Lay on Hands pool (used to bring Caelumn from 0 HP to 1 HP [4].
- Bless slots.
- Searing Smite slots.
- Mind Sliver cantrip (used s2).
Personal coin at death
- 1gp + 50sp + 80cp split from the s2 bandit haul (six-way split).
Death
Killed in the second recorded combat of s3 by an unnamed yuan-ti woman in Sunset is Nigh’s Lair. Her double-bite multiattack first attack was a natural 20 for 9 piercing + 21 poison damage [5]. He failed his attempt to stabilise — broke his neck on the death-save attempt [6]. Last words:
“I hate you all.” — Cholmondeley, dying, [7]
Funeral held at the village green of Wyrmbough Grove. Gwen Homora placed six sprigs of mosswort in the fire (one extra for him); Selenor played the carved war-horn of the Grove Wars; his holy symbol was passed to Nancy. Eulogy delivered by his player Chris:
“Chumley, even though your life was long, I hope it was filled with experiences and your life burned like the platinum flame of Bahamut. and I hope that going forward, your soul will rest in his fiery grasp.” — [8]
